Today is the day! Today marks the beginning of summer, there's no going back.
"Shine" by Trey Anastasio is one of my favorite songs, more specifically my favorite songs of summer. This song has brought me through many car rides, many festivals, many laughs, and many memories. This song is not just any song, but one that leads me out of the tunnel of winter and into the open fields of summer.
Even though I love this "Shine" so much I refuse to play it after the first week of December. Like I said before it is not just any song...this song predicts the weather.
Chicago has very fickle weather, and we have experienced it's many mood swings this spring. Because of it's indecisiveness it is difficult to trust what the news, my mac, weather.com, or the newspaper predicts. This is why I rely on "Shine." There comes a day every spring when there is the feeling of summer..that warm bubbly feeling of, "I'm about to explode with happiness!" Well my friends that day is today. The feeling of summer is here to stay, there will be no more rainstorms or snowstorms or hail storms or rainsnowhailstorms, just simply summer. Because of my gut feeling and a happiness I can't describe I knew it was time to play "Shine." I cranked it up, opened the windows, and have played it all day.
